There’s snow one like you cardI love sentiments that have play on words.  When I saw the sentiment There’s Snow One Like You, I had to use it on a card. This sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Snow Much  stamp set and it came in their January Card Kit. You don’t have to buy the kit to get the stamp set, you can buy it individually. Before I talk about how I made this card, I’ll go over the supplies I used.

Instructions for There’s Snow One Like You Card

Background

Start with a 4.25”x 5.5” white cardstock and cut out a circle using a circle die from sizzling.  Then cut the circle in half and place both halves side by side making two dome shapes. Place the two dome shapes at the bottom of another 4.25”x 5.5” white cardstock and move it in place so both dome shapes are on the card. Once you got the domes in place tape it together and onto the surface you are working with. These dome shapes should resemble snowy hills.
With the blending tool, add Tumble Glass on the card. Then blend in Salty Ocean and Broken China in a few places, leaving some Tumble Glass showing. Continue to blend until you like how it looks. Don’t worry about coloring the dome shapes those are only used as a stencil. Make sure you hold down the card and dome shapes together when you are blending the oxide inks. Spray water on the card and then pat dry with a paper towel. Since these are oxide inks, the water will react to the ink. I used a mist spray and then for the bigger drops I just flicked some water drops on it. Set the card on the side and let it dry.

Stamping and Coloring

Stamp the smaller penguin and snowman on a white cardstock. I used a stamp platform to stamp these images but you could used an acrylic block. Leave space between the penguin and snowman because you will be hand cutting them out after you color them.
Color the snowman and penguin with any color you choose. I used red (R24 & R29) and green (YG13 & YG17) for the beanie, scarf, and gloves. For both noise I colored them orange (YR14 & YR16). I decided to add rosy cheeks to the penguin and used R20 for that. Once the coloring it done hand cut them out. I kept a little border around the image but you could easily cut all the way to the image.

Putting the Card Together

To make an A2 card, you will need to trim down the background card to 4” x 5.25”. Trimming after you made the background allows you to trim away the edge that doesn’t look as pretty as the other edges. But you can easily trim your card before coloring the background.
Put your background in your stamp platform and secure it with the magnets. Place the snowman on the left side of the background and the penguin on the right side of the background. Then center the stamp sentiment “There’s Snow One Like You” between the snowman and penguin. Once you got the placement right, take the penguin and snowman away and leave the sentiment. Close your stamp platform, press firmly down, so the stamp clings to the top of the stamp platform. Ink your stamp and then close the cover. Press firmly down, so the sentiment is stamped on the background. Lift the cover and see if the sentiment stamped nicely. If it did not, then re-ink the stamp, close the cover, and press firmly down.
Add adhesive foam squares to the snowman and penguin, then place them onto the background. Using 5 mini pompoms, glue one of them on the snowman hands and one on the penguin’s hand. The other three pompoms glue them above the sentiment. Then glue the background to a 4.25” x 5.5” (A2 size) card.
There’s snow one like you card
My vision for this card was to have the snowman and penguin in a snow ball fight. I really love how this card turned out and this card could be sent to just about anyone. Best part, I still have a lot more in this kit I still haven’t used. Time to get started and use most of the supplies.
