DIY Superman Costume

DIY Superman CostumeI wanted to create a DIY Superman Costume for me and the husband. Let me just say there are a ton of women superhero costumes, that was just a little too sexy for me. So I was on a mission to come up with a fun and creative way to be superheros.

Husband’s DIY Superman Costume

Alright the husband’s costume was Clark Kent, turning into Superman. He already had an old suit that he used and all I did was buy him a Superman t-shirt and fake eye glasses. Boom, his costume done.

Wife’s DIY Superman Costume

My costume took a little be more creativity. I bought myself a Superman shirt and with amazing luck, I found and bought blue leggings from Victoria Secrets. But I didn’t stop there, I made a cute no-sew tutu to complete my outfit.

No-Sew Tutu

Supplies:

  • 8 rolls of 6” wide tulle (I always buy more than I use because I rather not go back to the store to get more)
  • 1/2” wide Satin Ribbon
  • Yardstick (a tape measure or ruler will work)
  • Scissors

Directions:

Cut the desire length of ribbon you need. Don’t forget you need extra ribbon to tie a bow. I just wrapped the ribbon around my waist and tied a bow, then cut off the excess.
Measure the desire length you want your skirt to be and then double the length. So if you wanted a tutu that is 2 ft long, cut the tulle 4 feet long. Then cut the tulle in 3 inches by 4 feet stripes.
Fold the tulle in half to create a loop. Place the tulle on top the ribbon, where the loop of the tulle is above the ribbon and the ends of the tulle is below the ribbon. Take the ends of the tulle and wrap it around the ribbon, go through the loop and pull. Continue this process until you reached your desired length.
I had a lot of fun creating a DIY Superman costume for me and my husband. These costumes were simple and easy to make. I have a few more posts on my other DIY Halloween costumes.
